The first thing a new model is told is to not just stand there, but to make triangles using her torso, arms, and legs. Even the fingers, clothes, furniture and hair can contribute. Triangles imbue a glamour portrait with a pleasing, graphic quality. They add interest to the image and draw us in. Excellent models such as Andrelica seem to know this instinctively. While perusing through some images of her from 2011, I came across these two. The number of triangles struck me, so I thought I would share them:
What conclusion can be drawn? In the case of Andrelica, at least, it is the model that creates the image and makes the photographer look like he knows what he is doing, and not the other way around!
